The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the worlds leading organisation that prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies - collectively known as electrotechnology. Many national and European standards are equivalent to an IEC standard , for example BS EN 62061: 2005 (British + harmonised European Standard) is equivalent to IEC 62061: 2005.
